#31 Katie Voigt
6'1 Guard
Woodruff, Wi
1993-98

Katie Voigt is the daughter of a Badger and one of the top girls high school players in Wisconsin history.  Her father Ted, who played basketball at Wisconsin, is now a high school coach.  Befitting the daughter of a coach, Katie came to Wisconsin to play point guard.  But she's 6'1 and slow-footed and she just couldn't handle the smaller quicker guards in the Big 10.  Katie understood the game of basketball well, but never quite seemed to understand her own game.  She never really learned to use her height and had way too many turnovers because she thought she could ballhandle with quicker players.  She was a decent shooter, but her defense was weak and she tended to force passes.  Katie also was an emotional player who was not always able to control those emotions.  Voigt was a good player, but probably not as good as her reputation would indicate.
