Janetta Johnson
Center
Ann Arbor, Mi
1988-89
A junior college transfer, Janetta Johnson had one very successful season at Wisconsin before becoming academically ineligible. She was a powerful center who dominated defensively. She would have been even more successful had she had fewer blocks which likely would have resulted in fewer fouls and more time on the court. As it was she set the single season record in blocks with 130. In fact, only Michelle Lowman has more rebounds in a career (252 in 4 years) than Janetta had in one.
After playing at Wisconsin, she became the second Badger woman to play professional ball, as she played in Portugal for 3 and a half seasons.
Honors
1989: Honorable mention All Big 10, Wisconsin MVP
Currently: The mother of two sons and a mortgage loan officer.
